What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication is a method of verifying the identity of a person who requests access to a resource. The name comes from the fact that two of the three authentication factors are used for access.
The factors are as follows:
- What the person knows. It may be a password, PIN-code, a key phrase, such as mother's maiden name or the name of the first pet.
- What the user owns. Usually it is a device that generates a one-time password to be entered when logging into an account. For example, Google Authenticator or similar.
- What the user himself has. This includes biometric data. It's fingerprints, facial scans, behavioral scans, and more.
Chat2Desk also has two-factor authentication.
Users will receive a password and a one-time code from the authenticator application when logging into their account, if this option is enabled. Learn how to connect and configure it in this article.
How to connect an authenticator app
Two-factor authentication is enabled by default for all Chat2Desk users: when logging in, you need to enter a one-time confirmation code, which is automatically sent to the user's e-mail. You can also enable two-factor authentication via an authenticator application. In this case, letters with the code will not be sent to your mail, and you will enter the code from the app. We will tell you more about it below.
How to enable two-factor authentication for operators using authentication app
- Download Yandex.Key, Google Authenticator or similar application.
- Open Account section in Chat2Desk in the upper right corner.
- Select Two-factor authentication at the bottom and activate the function.

- After that, you will receive an email confirming your account. You need to enter the code from the email into the field.

- A QR code will appear on the screen.

- Click Add account in the authenticator application.
- Click Scan QR-code button.
- Scan the QR code. If the code is correct, the system reports that the connection was successful.
- Enter the one-time code from the application and click Complete the setup.

How to log in using two-factor authentication?

Open Chat2Desk.com and click Sign in.

You will see a form where you need to enter your username and password.

If the username and password are correct, the one-time password field will open.

Open the authenticator app on your smartphone and look for the Chat2Desk code.

Enter the code in the box on the site.
Account security settings
Chat2Desk offers a flexible system of access in section Settings > Security and Access Rights. Here you can:
- specify a list of allowed ip addresses to login to the site;

- specify which sections and functions of the service are available to operators and supervisors;
- enable the filter of content that is allowed to be sent and received.

Common questions
Do you keep passwords?
We do not have access to your passwords. Passwords are stored in an encrypted form.
How does data transfer work?
Through the HTTPS protocol.
Do you guarantee that our numbers will not be blocked?
Alas, there is no 100% guarantee that the number will not be blocked: the probability of blocking is affected by many factors, many of which are unpredictable. If you work mainly with incoming traffic, there should be no reason to worry. If you often write to customers first, the risk increases.
How to turn off my Chat2Desk account?
Contact tech support via widget in the corner of the website. If you decide not to use Chat2Desk anymore, we will appreciate your feedback: it will help us to get better.
Technical support access
Our technical support sometimes needs access to your account to verify the details of an error.
To ensure security, grant such access only while the incident is being investigated. To do this activate corresponding setting under Settings > Security & access rights.

After the technical support analyses the incident, be sure to deactivate this option.
